2016 has been a wonderful year for the Malayalam movie industry. When it comes to the business, Mollywood touched the prestigious 100-crore mark with Pulimurugan. The industry also stands proudly with its exceptional films.

It was also a great year for the Malayalam music industry. We witnessed the comeback of some legendary singers and debut of some highly promising musicians, this year.

Legendary singers Dr. KJ Yesudas and Vani Jayaram teamed up with veteran musician Jerry Amaldev once again, for the Nivin Pauly movie Action Hero Biju. The song Pookkal Panineer Pookkal became a chartbuster and was appreciated by the listeners.

2016 was not a great year for Vijay Yesudas, who made a mark in 2015 with some beautiful songs. Things were not different for Shreya Ghoshal, who bagged most of the awards of last year for the beautiful songs in Ennu Ninte Moideen.

When it comes to the music directors, Gopi Sundar is on the top with the maximum number of projects, this year. Bijibal is on the second position with his exceptional albums. Debutantes Sooraj S Kurup and 4 Musics also made a mark with their exceptional compositions.
