CID Movies In Malayalam: From CID Nazir To CID Moosa
Most of us enjoy watching CID movies. There is a sense of anxiety and thrill which we get while watching these kinds of films.
Malayalam cinema has given certain memorable CID based films and characters. Interestingly, we have got CID movies which were humorous as well as serious in nature. Take a look at some of the CID movies and CID characters that we have had in Malayalam cinema.
Lankadahanam (1971)
Lankadahanam was on the lines of CID films of those days. Prem Nazir played the lead role in this film and it was the story of a CID officer in a mission. The officer comes in disguise as a music teacher and takes on the mission.
CID Nazir (1971)
This is one of the most popular CID films in Malayalam. Drawing inspiration from English films like James Bond, Malayalam film industry made this film which was a runaway hit. The character of CID Nazir played by Prem Nazir was later taken in other films too.
Dasan And Vijayan In Nadodikkatu Series
We all know about the popularity of Dasan and Vijayan. Nadodikkattu(1987) didn't have them as CID officers but in the sequels to the movie, namely Pattanapravesham(1988) and Akkare Akkare Akkare(1990), we saw them as CID officers. We all are eagerly awaiting for their next outing.
CID Unnikrishnan B.A, B.Ed (1994)
This film directed by Rajasenan had Jayaram playing the title character of a guy named Unnikrishnan who joins a detective agency. The story moves in a funny format but takes a change towards the end. Definitely, an entertaining movie.
CID Moosa (2003)
Adults, kids and people of all ages enjoy this movie even now. This kind of acceptance made this film as well as the character hugely popular.
Malayalam cinema has produced many investigative thrillers. But, most of the investigative thrillers had a Police Officer or CBI Officers as the lead characters.
English films brought this idea of CID movies and spy thrillers. Malayalam films like CID Nazir, Lankadahanam etc were heavily inspired from James Bond movies.
Interestingly, we have seen actors like Prem Nazir donning the CID hat many number of times. He was seen as a CID officer in films like Lankadahanam, Cochin Express, CID Nazir etc.
Of late, CID movies have taken a humorous tone. With the introduction of the combo of Dasan and Vijayan, there has been a shift in the genre of the films. Later, with the arrival CID Moosa, the CID movies did get a makeover.
