All eyes would be on this movie, which is expected to give a hat-trick of hits for Mohanlal, after Oppam and Pulimurugan turning out to be huge successes.

Drishyam (2013)
Mohanlal's previous Christmas release was the blockbuster movie Drishyam. The film, which released on December 19, 2016 was a runaway success at the box office. The season had also some other big releases, but nothing could stop the amazing run of the movie.
Karmayodha (2012)
Karmayodha, was the big Christmas release of Mohanlal, of the year 2012. It was the first time that Major Ravi was handling a subject other than an army based one. The trailer of the movie, did help in creating the much needed hype, but the film received negative reviews upon its release and couldn't make any impact at the box office.
Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nayarum (2011)
Priyadarshan-Mohanlal team, made a comeback, after a big break, with this movie, which was in the lines of a comedy entertainer. The film, which released on December 16, 2011, was one of the big releases of that season, along with Mammootty's Venicile Vyapari. The Mohanlal starrer, didn't meet the huge expectations bestowed on it, but still managed to become a box office success.
Kandahar (2010)
Kandahar, which was one among the Christmas releases of the year 2010, came in with huge expectations. The film, which had Mohanlal reprising the role of Major Mahadevan, also marked the Mollywood debut of Amitabh Bachchan. Despite all the surrounding hype and hoolah, Kandahar failed to make a mark at the box office.
Ividam Swargamaanu – 2009
Evidam Swargamanu, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, was definitely one of the best films of the year 2009. The film, which made it to the theatres, as a Christmas release, did face stiff competition from the Mammootty starrer Chattambinaadu, which was the big winner of the season. Nevertheless, Ividam Swargamanu was declared a hit at the box office, but the movie definitely deserved more.
Well, the actor didn't have any release during the Christmas seasons of the year 2015 and 2013. It was kind of a mixed bag for Mohanlal, as far as the last 5 Christmas releases are concerned.
