Did you know that popular actor Jayaram and Ranjith had teamed up for a good number of movies, in the past? In fact, Jayaram is the actor, who has acted in more than 10 movies, scripted by Ranjith. In fact, this combo is one of the less talked combos of Mollywood.
The team had given the industry some crackling movies in the late 80's and the early 90's. Both the writer and the actor were in the initial days of their respective careers, back then. Popular directors like Kamal, Viji Thampi etc., were the ones who directed these movies.
Most of the films were high on entertainment quotient and the ones which catered to the common man. Here, we list the best 5 movies of the Jayaram-Ranjith combo.
Summer In Bethlehem (1998)
Well, this movie definitely has to be the best among the lot. In fact, not many still know that the film had its script written by Ranjith. The film was quite different from the writer's previous film Aaram Thampuran. Jayaram got to play a character, that is still remembered by the audiences.
Pradeshika Varthakal (1989)
Pradeshika Varthakal was in the lines of a satire, with its story set in a village. This film was one of the early movies of Ranjith as a screenwriter. The film directed by Kamal, had Jayaram in an interesting role and the movie was filled with loads of comedy sequences.
Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1990)
Peruvannappurathe Visheshangal was in the lines of Sathyan Anthikkad movies, of those days. The story of the film was again set in the backdrop of a village and Ranjith did weave out some interesting characters. The film, helped in cementing Jayaram's postion in the hearts of the family audiences.
Nagarangalil Chennu Raappaarkkaam (1990)
This film directed by Viji Thampi, had Jayaram in the lead role. Ranjith, once again proved that he can handle comedy with ease with this movie, which was a real comedy ride. Definitely, another memorable movie from Ranjith-Jayaram combo.
Nanma Niranjavan Sreenivasan (1990)
Jayaram got to play the role of a police constable in this film, scripted by Ranjith and directed by Viji Thampi. In fact, the movie was a real good one, that had some good comedies and elements of thrill, as well.
It has to be noted that most of the above mentioned movies still hold relevance and are watchable even now, despite being close to 2 decades old.
Apart from the above mentioned movies, Ranjith has also scripted Jayaram movies like Georgekutty C/O Georgekutty, Kalal Pada, Marupuram, Witness, Paavakoothu, Pookkalam Varavaayi etc.
Interestingly, Jayaram has not acted in any movie directed by Ranjith, so far. Earlier, there were reports that Ranjith would directed a Jayaram movie, but nothing of that sorts happened. We hope that the powerful combo would team up soon to give the industry a film to treasure.
