Kalpana Passes Away: The Best 10 Characters Of The Actress

Kalpana, the super talented actress of Malayalam movie industry, passed away. The 50-year-old was found unconscious in a hotel in Hyderabad city, where she was filming for an upcoming bilingual movie.

The actress was rushed to the hospital immediately, but her life could not  be saved. According to the sources, the reason behind the sudden demise is cardiac arrest.

Kalpana's performance as Mary, the illegitimate daughter of the character Achutha Menon, played by Thilakan, was just brilliant. One of the best roles played by the actress.

Rashmi (Manju)

Kalpana, who made her acting debut as a child artist, received her first adult role in MT Vasudevan Nair's Manju. Even though it was a supporting role, the actress was highly appreciated for her screen presence.

Reportedly, Kalpana's body will be brought back to Kerala soon. The actress is survived by her only daughter Srimayi, mother Vijayalakshmi, and sisters Urvashi and Kalaranjini. 

Kalpana aka Kalpana Ranjini, is one of the rare actresses who made her own place in the industry, with her exceptional comical timing and versatility. She last appeared in Dulquer Salmaan starrer Charlie.

The actress, who was born as the second daughter of Chavara VP Nair and Vijayalakshmi, started her movie career as a child artist. She made her lead role debut with MT Vasudevan Nair's Manju, in 1983.

Some of her most popular works include Sathi Leelavathi, Indian Rupee, Kerala Cafe, Spirit etc. She had won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress, for the movie Thanichalla Njan.

Kalpana was married to popular film-maker, who has directed some popular movies, including Sthreedhanam and Pattabhishekam. The couple divorced in 2012.
