Ahmed Haaji played by Mammootty, was a character filled extreme negative shades and the actor excelled in this role. The actor also played the lead role of Haridas in the film. Mammootty even went on to win the Kerala State Award for the Best Actor for his performance in the film.
Mohanlal In Shobhraj
Remember this movie in which Mohanlal appeared in dual roles? Shobhraj was the Malayalam remake of popular Hindi movie Don. Mohanlal appeared as a dreaded Don named Shobhraj, and also as his look-alike Dharmaraj.
Jayaram In Mayilaattam
Mayilaattam came in as a big break in the career of Jayaram. The film, directed by V M Vinu was a success at the box office. Jayaram played the roles of Devan, a perfect guy hailing from a village and Pazhani, who is a character with negative shades. He pulled off both the roles with ease.
Prithviraj In Krithyam
Krithyam had Prithviraj in dual roles. In fact, the film came in amidst huge expectations but couldn't make a mark at the box office. Prithviraj played the lead role of Satya who is in the pursuit saving his girlfriend from a contract killer named Christy Lopez, again played by Prithviraj. The actor did give an impressive performance as Christy in the film.
Dileep In Kunjikoonan
Dileep appeared in dual roles in this super hit film. The actor appeared as a hunchback and also as youngster named Prasad, who is obsessed about his lover. In fact, the character of Prasad had slight grey shades but doesn't feature as a villain throughout the movie.
In fact, many movies from the black and white era, have used actors in such a way. For an instance, in the film Kadalpaalam, Sathyan appeared in a dual role as father and son, out of which the father character had slight negative shades associated with it. Same is the case of some Prem Nazir movies in the past.
Similarly, in the 2007 release Udayon, Mohanlal appeared as father and son and the latter was moulded adding some grey shades to it.
