We all know about the immense acting abilities of Mammootty. He is one such actor, who puts in his best to make each character perfect by adding that extra effort. He has proved that over and again with some wide variety of characters, that he has performed, so far.
The actor has had his own share of flop movies, but even in those movies, he had made it a point to put in his best. Here, we are going to list some of the Mammootty movies that were disappointments, but had the actor in full-form.
White, which released this year went on to become a huge disappointment. The film failed to cater to any section the audiences and the sole positive of the movie was the performance of Mammootty. The actor looked dashing and confident as Prakash Roy and gave his best for the character.
Balyakalasakhi was one of the much awaited movies of Mammootty, back then. Mammootty, appeared in a dual role in this movie and the actor was convincing in the portrayal of the elder version of Majeed. But, the movie couldn't stay loyal to the the novel written by Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer.
The movie marked the first association of Mammootty and B Unnikrishnan. Much was expected from this movie, but the director failed to deliver the best. Having said that, the film had Mammootty in full-form. He stole the show as Viswanatha Panikker, a character with slight negative shades.
August 15 (2011)
August 15 was the sequel to the 1988 movie, August 1. In the sequel, Mammootty reprised the character of Inspector Perumaal. The actor did put in his best, reminding us about the old Perumaal. He even carefully recreated the mannerisms, making the transformation of the character believable.
Mammootty had played a role with extreme negative shades in the movie, directed by Padmakumar. In fact, the actor gave a mesmerizing performance as Parunth Purushothaman, the ruthless money dealer. But, disappointingly, the film didn't have the metal to impress the audiences.
Most of the above mentioned movies were big failures at the box office. The critics and the audiences did pan the movies, but at the same time, they had good words for Mammootty, who had given his cent percent.
It is disappointing to see film-makers and writers coming up with half-baked project for an actor of Mammootty's calibre. Yes, the decade, so far hasn't been that a good one for Mammootty, but the actor has not given a performance, that could be termed as a disappointment.
Mammootty's upcoming film is The Great Father, directed by Haneef Adeni. The film is expected t give Mammootty that much needed big hit. The movie would hit the theatres in January.
