Mohanlal is undoubtedly the biggest crowd-puller Malayalam movie industry has ever witnessed. Now, the complete actor has also succeeded in entering the 200-Crore club, that too within a time span of 42 days.
Interestingly, Mohanlal's last three releases, Pulimurugan, Oppam, and Janatha Garage have managed to collect more than 200 Crores together. He is the first Malayalam actor to enter the 200-Crore club.
Here are the box office reports of Pulimurugan, Oppam, and Janatha Garage...
Pulimurugan, the Vysakh directed action thriller made an extraordinary opening at the box office, by collecting 4.5 Crores on its releasing day. The movie soon became the fastest Malayalam film to cross the 10-Crore and 20-Crore marks.
Current Box Office Collection
The movie reportedly crossed the 25-Crore mark, on the 6th day of release. Pulimurugan is performing extremely well at the box office, and is expected to become the first Malayalam movie to cross 100-Crore mark.
Mohanlal made a grand comeback to the success track with Oppam, directed by Priyadarshan. Even though the movie had an average opening, it later went on to impress both the audiences and critics.
Collection Till Date
The movie has made a total gross collection of about 45 Crores from the worldwide box office, within the first 30 days of its theatrical run. It is expected to break the record of Mohanlal's Drishyam.
Janatha Garage, the movie which had Mohanlal in a key role, made a grand opening at the box office, by collecting more than 20 Crores on its release day.
When it completed the first 33 days of release, Janatha Garage made a worldwide gross collection of 136 Crores. Thus, the movie has become the highest grosser of Telugu cinema in 2016.
Both Pulimurugan, the action thriller directed by Vysakh, and Oppam, the thriller movie, directed by veteran film-maker Priyadarshan, are performing extremely well at the Kerala box office.
It is noticeable that the release of the Vysakh-directed movie has not affected the box office performance of the Priyadarshan project, which was released exactly one month before the former.
Even though Janatha Garage was a Jr. NTR film, Mohanlal stole the show with his exceptional performance in the movie. The actor was widely appreciated by both the Telugu audiences and industry members.
Thus, three Mohanlal films together have done a total business of more than 200 Crores, within a time span of 42 days. Well, this man is truly magic, and we hope he doesn't stop doing wonders.
