The ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes have come to effect from November 9, midnight onwards. This new step by the Government came as a big surprise to the citizens of the nation.

While celebrities of Bollywood and Kollywood came out, to express their solidarity and support for this movement, which is aimed at eradicating black money from the society, the celebrities of our dear Mollywood also backed the decision of the government.

Popular actress Manju Warrier did sent out a long post regarding the same. She stated that the message given by the Prime Minister is something which we as Indians should be proud of. She also urged all the people to stay united for this mission.

Actor Salim Kumar also chose to voice his opinion on the note ban. In an interview given to Manorama Online, the actor urged all the people to support the decision considering the best interest of the nation. He also pinpointed that Kerala is a state where Harthal comes in so often and if people can tolerate that, then they can bear the difficulties caused by the new change for a day, as well.

Actor/writer Murali Gopy is one such Malayalam celebrity, who has always made it a point to give his opinion on all major happenings in the society. The actor took to Facebook to show his support to the new movement of the government and also termed it as a master stroke.

Renowned actor/writer Anoop menon also showered praises on the Government for such a move. He send out a Facebook post which read..

Celebrities like Vineeth Sreenivasan and Aju Varghese chose to express their solidarity by spreading an important awareness message on the note ban.

The major stars of Malayalam films, like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Prithviraj, Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly etc., have not come out with their opinions yet.

However, Malayalam film industry has been slightly affected by the note ban. There has been a slight dip in the collections of Malayalam films like Pulimurugan. Importantly, the release of two Malayalam films, Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan and Ore Mukham, have been postponed.
