Past week was an eventful one for Malayalam cinema. After a wait of close to one month, the film industry witnessed the release of big Malayalam films.
Four films were released during the Eid week, making Mollywood
vibrant and back to its best. Here we list some of the major

Kasaba Breaks Records!
Kasaba, which released on July 7, 2016 got a gigantic
opening and it went on to collect 2.49 Crores in the opening day.
Thus, the film broke the opening day collection records set by
Dulquer Salmaan's Kali. The film also registered 339 housefull
shows in the opening day.
Mammootty In Full Form!
Eventhough Kasaba is receiving mixed reviews, audiences
are unanimously praising the performance of Mammootty in the film.
The actor could be seen in full form in Kasaba and thus
giving his fans a special treat.
Anuraga Karikkin Vellam Garners Great Reviews!
Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, the film which came in without
much fanfare has went on to fetch positive reviews from all
sectors. The critics have given a thumbs up for the movie.
Rajisha Vijayan Makes A Confident Debut!
Rajisha Vijayan, who portrayed the role of Elizabeth in the film
Anuraga Karikkin Vellam has won wide appreciations for her
performance in the film. This is her debut role and the industry
has got a new talented actress.
Debut Directors Sparkle!
Last week witnessed the release of two films made by debut
directors. Nithin Renji Panicker made his debut with
Kasaba whereas Khalid Rahman made his entry to films with
the movie Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.
Suraj Venjaramoodu Proves His Versatility!
Suraj Venjaramoodu plays important roles in Shajahanum
Pareekuttiyum and Karinkunnam Sixes. The actor once
again proved his versatility by portraying two diametrically
opposite characters with conviction.
Teasers And Trailers Take Over The Online Media
The official teasers of Mohanlal's Janatha Garage and
Prithviraj's Oozham got released last week. The trailer of
Pretham also got released online, and all the three of
them have garnered wide appreciations.
Last week witnessed the release of four big Malayalam films in
the form of Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum, Karinkunnam Sixes,
Kasaba and Anuraga Karikkin Vellam. The extended
weekend proved fruitful for all the four films.
Among the 4 films, Kasaba released amidst much fanfare
and the film went on to be one of the biggest releases of this year
so far. The film which released in 101 theatres is one of the
biggest releases of Mammootty, as well.
Films like Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and Karinkunnam
Sixes did have a slow start, but these films went on to pick
up in the later days.
Salman Khan starrer Sultan, which released on July 6,
2016 is giving a stiff competition to all the Malayalam
Meanwhile, films like Kammatipaadam and Jacobinte Swargarajyam still hold on to a few screens. Jacobinte Swargarajyam is all set to complete 100 days of run, whereas Kammatipaadam completed 50 days of run in the theatres.
