Pulimurugan has created a new record as the film has crossed the 100-Crore mark at the box office. Now, the film is the first Malayalam movie to achieve this and proudly, the industry could say that, it has a movie in the elite club.
Pulimurugan Opens Big In UAE/GCC
Pulimurugan did make a grand release in UAE/GCC on November 3, 2016. Reportedly, the film had 630 shows in the opening day, the highest for an Indian movie in UAE/GCC. The movie has eclipsed the records set by Salman Khan's Sultan and Rajinikanth's Kabali.
Swarna Kaduva Gets A Decent Start
Biju Menon starrer Swarna Kaduva did have a grand release on November 4, 2016. The film released in 104 theatres making it the biggest ever release for Biju Menon. Swarna Kaduva has been getting decent reviews, so far.
Mohanlal Joins 1971 Beyond Borders
Mohanlal's next big budget venture is 1971 Beyond Borders, directed by Major Ravi. The shoot of the film has commenced in Rajasthan and Mohanlal has joined the sets. Huge sets have been erected for shooting the war sequences in the movie. The actor's look for the film has also been revealed.
A Sci-Fi Thriller In Malayalam
Sci-Fi movies are not that common in Mollywood. Well, having said that, there is a big announcement regarding an upcoming movie. Reportedly, Prithviraj, Nithya Menen and Parvathy would be seen in a sci-fi movie, directed by Jenuse Mohammed. The film is expected to go on the floors in 2017.
Godha's First-Look Posters Are Out
The first look posters of the upcoming Malayalam movie Godha, are out. It was actor Mammootty, who launched the posters of the film. The film directed by Basil Joseph, has Tovino Thomas, Renji Panicker and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles.
What Mammootty Said After Watching Pulimurugan?
Reportedly, actor Mammootty has watched Mohanlal's Pulimurugan and has enjoyed the movie. This was revealed by actor Kunjan in an interview given to a popular magazine. According to Kunjan, he watched the movie along with Mammootty and the latter even went on to say that only Mohanlal could do such things.
Meanwhile, the past week witnessed the release of three Malayalam films. Biju Menon starrer Swarna Kaduva was the major release of the week. Apart from that, Arun Viswam's Kolumittayi and Girish C Palam's Pallikoodam also made it to the theatres.
Among the previous week's other language movie releases, Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Dhanush starrer Kodi, continue their decent run at the Kerala box office, with positive word of mouth.
The coming week, once again would be an exciting one for Mollywood, as two mainstream movies are set to hit the theatres. Nadhirshah's Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan and Sajith Jagadnandan's Ore Mukham, which has Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role, would hit the theatres on November 11, 2016.
