Priyadarshan's
most
recent
release
Oppam,
which
has
Mohanlal
in
the
lead
role
is
busy
breaking
box
office
records,
one
by
one,
and
the
film
is
gearing
up
to
emerge
as
the
biggest
box
office
hit
in
the
history
of
Malayalam
cinema.
Much
before
Oppam,
the
duo
of
Priyadarshan
and
Mohanlal,
did
announce
a
big
budget
project,
which
was
supposed
to
be
shot
mainly
in
Russia.
The
film
was
expected
to
be
made
under
a
budget
of
28
Crores.
Aparna
Gopinath
was
roped
in
to
do
the
female
lead
in
the
film.
The
makers
were
planning
to
release
the
film
in
Malayalam,
Russian,
Turkish
etc.
The
film
was
touted
to
be
the
costliest
film
ever
made
in
Malayalam
but
the
project
didn't
take
off.
Reportedly,
Priyadarshan
got
to
hear
the
story
of
Oppam
during
the
pre-production
work
of
the
big
budget
film.
The
director
who
became
interested
in
the
thread
of
Oppam
took
up
the
job
of
scripting
the
film.
Later,
Priyadarshan
decided
to
take
up
Oppam
before
the
Russian
film.
But,
there
was
a
delay
in
starting
the
shoot
of
Oppam,
which
eventually
led
to
the
clash
in
dates
of
Mohanlal
and
Priyadarshan.
Meanwhile,
the
climatic
conditions
in
Russia
also
prevented
the
team
from
beginning
the
shoot
of
the
big
budget
project.
