School Days! Malayalam Movies Which Had School Playing An Important Part In Them!

Today, is the 1st of June and it is the beginning of an academic year for most of the students. Yes, it is after a gap of two months, that all the school kids are getting back to their second home.

On this day, we list some of the Malayalam movies, which had school as their main background. These films might remind you of your good old school days.

Notebook

The film directed by Rosshan Andrrews and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, was a school based movie and it narrated the friendship of three girls namely Sarah, Pooja and Sreedevi, played by Roma, Parvatyi and Mariya Roy respectively.

Philips And The Monkey Pen

This is one of the best children based movies released in the recent times. The film had some amazing, cute and little school sequences that are definitely enjoyable.

Manikyakallu

Prithviraj appeared in this film as a School Master, who takes up the assignment of renovating a government school and bringing back the children to the school. The film was a success at the box-office.

Olympian Anthony Adam

The film wasn't a big box-office success back then, but definitely the film did make a good attempt. The film has Mohanlal in the role of an investigating officer who comes in the disguise of a Physical Education trainer in a school.

Koodevide

One of the finest works of legendary director Padmarajan. The film had Mammootty, Rahman and Suhasini in the lead roles. The story of the film was set in the backdrop of a boarding school.

Premam

The initial portions of film would definitely remind you of your school days, In fact, the film didn't even have a single shot canned in a school. But, certain moments in the film would take you back to your school days.


In fact, films based on children are not so common in Malayalam cinema. Films like Notebook and Philips and The Monkey Pen, which told us about children and their school life, are rarely made in Malayalam cinema.

School Bus, directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the recent one to join this elite list. The film has its script written by Bobby-Sanjay team. The film got released on May 27, 2016 and opened to mixed to positive reviews. Interestingly, the same team was behind the film Notebook.

School Bus do take a close look into the lives of present generation school kids and addresses many important social issues. The film has Jayasurya, Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Gopinath and two other kids in prominent roles.
