Today(August 17, 2016), marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year. The first day of Chingam, is considered to be an auspicious one as it marks the beginning of the year.

Prominent Malayalam film celebrities made it a point to wish their fans on the special day. They took to Facebook to convey their greetings to their fans and followers.

Similarly, Nadir Shah's upcoming film Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan would also go on floors in this month. The film is being produced by Dileep.

Moreover, the month is also considered good for the release of new movies. Dileep's Pinneyum, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow.

Importantly, the Onam season is approaching fast and many Malayalam movies like Oppam, Oozham, Welcome To Central Jail etc. are gearing up to hit the theatres.
