Popular film-maker Priyadarshan has made a number of movies with Mohanlal. In fact, most of his blockbuster films had featured Mohanlal in the lead roles. Undeniably, they form one of the most loved combos of Mollywood.
But, what about the director's association with the other superstar of Mollywood, Mammootty? In fact, both of them have been the best of friends since the 1980s. Their combo might not be that talked about, but they have teamed up for certain movies, which had quality content.

Parayaanum Vayya Parayaathirikkaanum Vayya (1985)
This film was one of the early movies in the directorial career of Priyadarshan. The film featured Mammootty, Sankar and Menaka in the lead roles. Mammootty appeared as a police officer named Sreenivas in this film, which was in the lines of a family drama. The film had its script written by Cochin Haneefa.
Rakkuyilin Ragasadassil (1986)
Rakkuyilin Ragasadassil was much different from the Priyadarshan movies of those days. The film was a rather serious movie and devoid of the comedy elements found in Priyadarshan movies of those days. Mammootty and Suhasini played the lead roles in this movie. The movie, despite being a good one couldn't fetch the desired result at the box office.
Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu (1986)
Well, not all of you might have noticed Mammootty in this movie. The comedy entertiner, that earned a cult classic status had Mohanlal and Mukesh in the lead roles. Mammootty appears towards the end of the movie in a very friendly appearance. He appeared in the role of a guest who comes in for the grand wedding ceremony that leads to the climax of the movie.
Megham (1999)
Megham, directed by Priyadarshan marked the reunion of Mammootty and the director after a gap of more than 12 years. Mammootty played the role of an army officer in this movie, which was in the lines of a light entertainer. Megham, despite having some good moments to offer, didn't emerge as a success at the box office.
Interestingly, both of them have shared the screen space for a film, as well. In the film, No. 20 Madras Mail, released in the year 1990, Mammootty had appeared as himself. Priyadarshan too, appeared in the movie as himself and there was a scene in the film, featuring both of them.
Priyadarshan once revealed that he had planned to cast Mammootty in an important role in his debut directorial venture Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, which unfortunately didn't materialize.
Well, we definitely hope to see a movie from this combo. With Priyadarshan back to full-form, if he directs Mammootty in a film, wouldn't be a real treat to watch?
