Drishyam, the name of the movie says it all. The impact
the film made at its time is incomparable. The film introduced the
50-Crore club to the Malayalam film industry and showed us that
quality movies can create wonders at the box office. It remained as
the biggest hit in the history of Malayalam cinema, till the
release of Pulimurugan.
Oppam came in at a time when Mohanlal was in need of a
big hit. After a slow start, the film raced ahead at the box
office. The movie had a phenomenal run and went on set the record
for the fastest entrant to 20-Crore, 30-Crore club respectively, at
its time of release.
Aashirvad Cinemas brought back the evergreen combo of Sathyan
Anthikkad and Mohanlal. It was after a break of 12 years, that the
director and actor joined hands for a movie. The film was loved by
the family audience and the movie emerged as a big hit, grossing
above 20 Crores.
It was with this film that this coveted banner entered the
industry. The movie was a record breaking hit at the box office and
turned out to be an all-time blockbuster. In fact, the film went on
to gross above 20 Crores, which was definitely a herculean task,
Ravanaprabhu, the sequel to the much acclaimed movie
Devasuram, was the second production venture of Aashirvad
Cinemas. The film, stayed closed to its genre and emerged as a big
hit at the box office. Even though the film couldn't break the box
office records of Narasimham, the film went on to emerge
as the biggest hit of the year 2001.
