Dileesh
Pothan's
Brilliance
Maheshinte
Prathikaaram
was
the
debut
directorial
venture
of
Dileesh
Pothan.
But,
without
the
inhibitions
of
a
debut
film-maker
he
made
the
film
a
classy
one
with
good
entertainment
value,
as
well.
Dileesh
Pothan's
brilliance
in
handling
the
entire
subject
was
the
talking
point
in
many
of
the
social
media
pages.
Well,
having
made
such
a
brilliant
movie,
probably
one
would
get
a
feel
why
the
director
didn't
get
the
title
for
the
Best
Debut
Director.
Having
said
that,
Shaanavas
Baavakutty,
who
won
this
year's
title
for
the
well-crafted
movie
Kismath,
also
did
a
splendid
job,
but
we
feel
that
Dileesh
Pothan's
brilliance
deserved
due
acknowledgement
as
well.
Bijibal's
Soulful
Music
It
would
be
hard
to
find
another
song,
which
was
much
popular
than
'Idukki..' from
Maheshinte
Prathikaaram.
Bijibal,
who
had
sung
the
song,
as
well,
did
set
a
soulful
tune
for
this
song,
which
summed
up
the
entire
background
of
the
film,
Maheshinte
Prathikaaram.
M
Jayachandran,
who
won
this
year's
award
for
the
Best
Music
Director
for
his
work
in
Kamboji
has
done
a
decent
job.
But,
it
would
have
been
fairer
to
give
Bijibal
this
award,
also
considering
the
fact
that
M
Jayachandran
had
won
this
title
6
times,
in
the
past.
Scintillating
Frames
Set
By
Shyju
Khalid
Well,
the
award
for
the
Best
Cinematographer
went
to
M
J
Radhakrishnan.
And
there
is
no
second
opinion
on
that,
since
the
master
cinematographer
was
brilliant
with
the
camera
in
Kaadu
Pookkunna
Neram.
Coming
to
Shyju
Khalid,
we
need
to
comprehend
the
subtlety
with
which
he
captured
the
beautiful
locales
of
Idukki,
without
losing
out
the
juice
of
the
story
line.
There
weren't
much
gimmicks
shown
in
the
camera
department
but
still,
the
frames
did
go
on
to
make
a
lasting
impact
in
the
minds
of
viewers.
Definitely,
Shyju
Khalid,
deserved
a
special
mention,
at
least.
Performances
–
Subtle
Yet
Impactful
Well,
almost
all
the
Malayalam
film
lovers
are
happy
with
the
fact
that
Vinayakan
and
Manikandan
Achaari
went
on
to
win
the
Best
Actor
and
Best
Character
awards,
respectively.
Coming
to
Maheshinte
Prathikaaram,
the
film
was
rich
in
performances.
Be
it
Fahadh
Faasil
or
Soubin
Shahir,
each
and
everyone
of
them
did
a
splendid
job.
Especially,
Fahadh,
who
lived
as
Mahesh.
We
heard
that
the
actor
was
in
the
contention
for
the
Best
Actor
award
and
a
special
mention
for
his
performance
would
have
been
a
cherry
on
the
cake
for
Maheshinte
Prathikaaram.
