The Vishu season of 2017 offered good prospects for the Malayalam film industry. Movies like The Great Father & Take Off are running to packed houses and amidst that the Nivin Pauly starrer Sakhavu and Mammootty's Puthan Panam also made it to the theatres.
Altogether, the Vishu season was a crackling one for Malayalam film audiences, with the entry of Sakhavu & Puthan Panam further increasing their excitement. On the other hand, some interesting news regarding Mohanlal's upcoming films with Lal Jose & B Unnikrishnan too, made the week a special one.

Mammootty starrer Puthan Panam and Nivin Pauly's Sakhavu were the major releases of the last week. Both the film had a big release and Sakhavu has opened to good reviews at the theatres. On the other hand, Puthan Panam has opened to largely negative reviews.
Manju Warrier Joins Villain's Shoot
Popular actress Manju Warrier has joined the shoot of the her upcoming film Villain, which has Mohanlal in the lead role. Interestingly, the actress celebrated Vishu on the sets of the movie and director B Unnikrishnan posted a photo of the same on his Facebook page.
An Important Update On Aadujeevitham
Rumours were doing the rounds that Aadujeevitham, Prithviraj's highly anticipated project with Blessy, has been shelved. Now, the director himself has dismissed all the rumours and confirmed that the film is still on cards and would go on floors soon. the film is presently in its pre-production stages.
The Great Father Continues Its Magnificent Run
Mammootty starrer The Great Father is still having an amazing run at the box office. The film, which has had an excellent run at the Kochi multiplexes recently crossed the 1-Crore mark. This is the second film of Mammootty to enter the club.

Mammootty starrer Puthan Panam had hit the theatres on April 12, 2017. The much awaited movie fetched 1.80 Crores gross, on its very first day. It is a decent collection considering the fact that the film was released on a Wednesday.

1971 Beyond Borders did not have a good outing at the box office. Despite getting a good opening, the film has failed to hold a place at the box office. Reportedly, the film just managed to fetch 4.5 Crores gross from 3 days.
A Guinness World Record For Pulimurugan
Mohanlal's big release of the year 2016 is still in the news. Recently, the 3D version of Pulimurugan was screened at Adlux Convention Centre in Angamaly for above 20,000 people. Thus, the film scripted a new record for the screening of a 3D movie for the maximum number of audiences, which was earlier held by Will Smith starrer Men In Black.
An Interesting Update On Mohanlal-Lal Jose Movie
Mohanlal is all set to join hands with Lal Jose for the first time and now, reports have come in that Mohanlal will be seen in two different get-ups in the upcoming. The actor will play the role of a college lecturer in this film, scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. Reportedly, the upcoming film will be in the lines of a comical entertainer.
Among the previous week's release, it is Sakhavu which has made the maximum impact. The film, directed by Nivin Pauly starrer did have good advance booking and the word of mouth for the film is also largely positive.
The box office collections of Mammootty starrer Puthan Panam have dipped as the initial reviews weren't much favourable for the film.
Meanwhile, the upcoming week will also bring in two Malayalam movies to the theatres. The first one to hit the theatres will be Sathy, which is all set to grace the theatres on April 20, 2017. On the very next day, Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu starring Biju Menon in the lead role will be hitting the theatres.
