The 64th National Film Award ceremony was held in New Delhi, yesterday (May 03, 2017). Mohanlal was honoured with a Special Jury award and the actor was present to receive the big award.
Special Jury Award For 2 Malayalam Films And A Telugu Film
Actor Mohanlal received the award from the Hon'ble President Of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The actor won the Special Jury award for his performances in the Malayalam films Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Pulimurugan and the Telugu movie, Janatha Garage.
A Standing Ovation For Mohanlal
Interestingly, when it was Mohanlal's turn to receive the award, the presenter announced the actor's name, which was followed by a standing ovation from the audiences. Many of the dignitaries who were present made it a point give the complete actor a huge round of applause.
Accompanied By The Actor's Wife
Mohanlal was also accompanied by his wife Suchithra, for the prestigious function. The actor looked extremely smart in his formal attire.
A Big Day For Malayalam Cinema
In fact, the 64th National Film Award ceremony was flooded with the presence of the representatives of Malayalam cinema. Dileesh Pothan, Aashiq Abu, Surabhi etc., were also present for the function to receive their respective awards.
Fifth National Award For the Actor
This is for the second time that Mohanlal has received a Special Jury award for acting. Earlier, he had received it in the year 1989 for his performance in the film Kireedom. In total, this is his fifth National Award, which includes two awards for the Best Actor.
Well, Mohanlal is not just the pride of Mollywood but the entire Indian film industry. It is a known fact that many Indian celebrities are big fans of Mohanlal's works.
After receiving the award Mohanlal who spoke to the media, expressed his happiness on winning the prestigious award. He took the opportunity to thank each and everyone who stood by him.
The ceremony was attended by the bigwigs of Indian film industry like Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Boman Irani, Priyadarshan and many more. Akshay Kumar received the award for the Best Actor whereas Sonam Kapoor received a Special Jury award for her performance in Neerja.
