Vismayam/Manamantha
Vismayam, the Telugu dubbed version of Mohanlal's Manamantha hit the theatres on August 5, 2016. Both the versions of the movie got released on the same day. The film opened to positive responses and Mohanlal was praised for taking up such a role. The Malayalam dubbed version had a good opening, considering the fact that it was a dubbed movie.

Janatha Garage
Mohanlal's second Telugu film of the year Janatha Garage was dubbed in to Malayalam and released with the same name on September 1, 2016. The film did have a solid run in its first week, but later the Onam releases did take over. But, the Telugu version of the film emerged as a huge blockbuster and entered the 100-Crore club.

Oppam
Oppam was the actor's first direct Malayalam release of the year. The film, which released on September 8, 2016, opened to grand reviews. Mohanlal got to play a character with difference in this movie and he got a challenging role, which he did with ease. The film emerged as a big blockbuster and was the second biggest hit of 2016.

Pulimurugan
No introduction is required for this movie, which now has turned out to be the face of Malayalam cinema. Mohanlal, proved his star power and amazing crowd pulling ability with this film, that helped Mollywood enter the coveted 100-Crore club. The superstar in Mohanlal was in full-form in this movie and rightly, the film turned out to be an all-time blockbuster.

The two biggest hits of 2016 belonged to Mohanlal, in the form of Oppam and Pulimurugan, both of which were big money-spinners at the box office.
In fact, the actor gave three blockbusters in a span of 2 months, making him the first ever Indian actor to achieve this rare feat. With his Telugu movies, he earned a huge fan following in Telugu speaking regions.
The actor's next release is Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, which is expected to hit the theatres later this month. The film is expected to continue the winning streak of the actor.
