Oppam,
the
Mohanlal
starring
suspense
thriller
is
one
of
the
biggest
critical
and
commercial
successes
of
2016.
But
according
to
the
latest
reports,
Oppam
will
not
be
a
part
of
the
64th
National
Film
Awards
race.
Priyadarshan,
the
director
of
the
movie
has
been
appointed
as
the
head
of
the
64th
National
Film
Award
jury.
As
per
the
close
sources,
the
jury
members
are
not
allowed
to
nominate
their
films
for
the
award.
So,
Oppam
cannot
be
nominated
for
the
award,
as
it
is
directed
by
the
jury
Head
Priyadarshan.
However,
the
report
has
come
out
as
a
great
disappointment
for
the
Mohanlal
fans,
who
were
expecting
the
movie
to
be
in
the
race.
Priyadarshan
has
been
a
part
of
the

film
industry
from
the
past
three
decades,
in
the
Malayalam,
Hindi,
Tamil,
and
Telugu

He
had
won
the
National
Film
Award
of
2007
for
the
Best
Film,
for
his
Tamil
movie
Kanjeevaram.
The
director
stated
his
huge
excitement
over
heading
the
64th
National
Film
Awards
jury,
in
the
recent
interview
given
to
IANS.
Priyadarshan
remarked
that
he
considers
this
opportunity
as
a
huge
responsibility,
and
will
try
to
do
his
best
as
the
jury
Chairman.
