Villain, the upcoming Mohanlal starring B Unnikrishnan movie is the first Indian film to be shot using the 8K technology. However, the news hasn't gone well with the movie lovers, as there are no 8K theatres in India.

In a recent interview, director B Unnikrishnan revealed how the 8K technology has been used in the big budget movie. The team is using a special 'Red' camera of 'Weapon Helium 8K' series to shoot the Mohanlal starrer.

According to director Unnikrishnan, Villian will be entirely shot in 8K initially. Later, the movie will be 'downscaled' to 4K and 2K formats, after which the visuals will be very sharp and crystal clear.

Most of the movies have been shot using the digital cameras which come around 1.8K resolution. Later, they are upscaled to 2K and 4K formats, which causes the quality loss and compression.

Popular south Indian cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is handling the cinematography of Villain, which is a big budget venture. Pulimurugan fame Peter Hein is choreographing an important fight sequence.

Manju Warrier essays the female lead opposite Mohanlal in the movie. Villain, which is produced by Rockline Venkatesh for Rockline Productions will also mark the Malayalam debut of popular Tamil actor Vishal.
