It's the time to say goodbye to the month of March 2017, a month that offered a lot of positives to the Malayalam film industry. More importantly, this month gave the industry its most awaited movie in the form of The Great Father.
Yes, The Great Father, which hit the theatres yesterday is the talk of M'town now. This Mammootty starrer has grabbed all the headlines and the movie has opened to some amazing reviews. We expect The Great Father to continue its dominance in the next month, as well.
On the other hand, as many as 7 big Malayalam movies made it to the theatres in the month of March 2017. Oru Mexican Aparatha, Angamaly Diaries, Alamara, C/O Saira Banu, Take Off, Honey Bee 2, The Great Father etc., were the major releases.

Best Movie Of The Month - Take Off
It was a tough competition, with some real valuable movies fighting it hard for the title. But still, Take Off is our choice, since such was the impact that the film made. Take Off has taken Malayalam cinema to newer heights and this movie has been receiving overwhelming reviews from all quarters and the movie has even earned the tag of an excellent film.
Star Of The Month - Mammootty
It wouldn't be wrong to tag this man as the real star of the month. It was only towards the end of the month that his movie The Great Father made it to the theatres, but even that short period of time was more than enough for the star and the actor in him to make a massive impact. The response for The Great Father has been phenomenal and due credits should be given to this man and his incomparable star power.
Most Talked About Movies – The Great Father, Angamaly Diaries And Take Off
Well, there is a reason to tag The Great Father as one among the the most talked about movies of the month. The film, which released on March 30, 2017 has been the most awaited movie of the month. The buzz regarding the film has been doing the rounds since the past few months.
Coming to Angamaly Diaries, the film made a lasting impact in the minds of viewers and the movie picked up with the amazing positive reviews that it received. Same is the case of Take Off, which proved that Malayalam cinema is truly going places.
Special Mention – Angamaly Diaries & C/O Saira Banu
How can we miss out Angamaly Diaries, which truly went viral, right after the day of its release? In fact, the movie did even grab the attention of other language film-makers like Kartik Subbaraj, Anurag Kashyap etc. Lijo Jose Pellissery did carve a gem with newcomers on board with the actors also putting up an impressive show.
On the other hand, C/O Saira Banu did hit the right chords. The film, which marked the debut of Antony Sony was well-appreciated by the audiences. The film has been largely appreciated by industry people and normal audiences, alike.
Best Performer – Parvathy
Parvathy is one of the most reliable actresses of Mollywood. She once again proved that with her latest film Take Off, in which she did the role of a nurse trapped in Iraq. Words would be less to describe her performance in the film as Sameera. With a towering performance, the actress got in to the skin of the character. An exceptional performance indeed!
Big Disappointment – Honey Bee 2
Much was expected from this sequel to the 2013 superhit movie Honey Bee 2. The film managed to get an impressive opening, but later fell at the box office, owing to the negative reviews that the film received.
Oru Mexican Aparatha, which was one of the first releases of the month did make an earth-shattering opening on its Day 1.
Well, with The Great Father coming in to the scene, the entire attention of filmgoers have shifted to this Mammootty starrer. Well, we hope all the good movies of this month will continue its impactful run in the next month, as well.
