RIP Om Puri! Remembering The Talented Actor's Movies In Malayalam!

Om Puri, the actor who impressed one and all with his portrayal of power roles in Indian movies of various languages, passed away this morning (January 6, 2017), in Mumbai.

The actor, who started his career in the 1970's was prominently seen in Bollywood movies, and at the same time he also made his presence felt in regional language movies.

In fact, not many know that the actor has been a part of Malayalam films, as well. In a career spanning close to 40 years, Om Puri went on to appear in 3 Malayalam movies.

The actor made his entry in Malayalam films in the year 1988. The actor appeared in the lead role in the critically acclaimed movie Puravrutham, directed by Lenin Rajendran.

He appeared as a character named Raman in the movie and the language wasn't a barrier for him and he fitted perfectly in to the shoes of the role. Later, in 1988 he also appeared in another Malayalam movie named Samvalsarangal.

Most recently, he was seen in the Jayaram starrer Aadupuliyattam, directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. The actor was seen in the role of a Yogi in the movie.

Incidentally, Aadupuliyattam, is the last movie of Om Puri to have hit the theatres. The void that the actor's demise has created in Indian cinema is definitely hard to be filled.
