Prithviraj is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after actors of Mollywood. Recently, the rumour mills had suggested that the makers of Puthan Panam, the Mammootty movie have roped in Prithvi for a cameo appearance.

It was rumoured that Prithviraj is playing his popular character from the National award-winning movie Indian Rupee, Jayaprakash aka JP in Puthan Panam, which was said to be a -spin-off of the 2011-released movie.

However, the sources close to the project brushed off the rumours and confirmed that Prithviraj is not a part of the Ranjith-directed movie. The sources also clarified that the movie is not a spin-off of Indian Rupee, but deals with a fresh subject.

Earlier, Prithviraj had made a cameo appearance in the Mammootty starrer Munnariyippu, which was produced by Ranjith. That is why the gossipmongers started speculating that Prithvi will also be a part of the new Mammootty-Ranjith project.

Indian Rupee, which was also directed by Ranjith, was a turning point in Prithviraj's acting career. The movie, which was a critical and commercial success, went on to bag the National Film Award of 2011, for the Best Malayalam Film.

Puthan Panam, which is said to be a very different thriller, stars Mammootty in the central character Nithyananda Shenoy. The movie, which is scripted by Ranjith himself, will hit the theatres in April.
