Tabu Is Not Approached For Aami, Says Kamal

Aami, the upcoming Kamala Das biopic is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects of Malayalam cinema. It was rumoured that Bollywood actress Tabu has been approached to play the titular role in the movie.

But, veteran film-maker Kamal, who is the director of the movie, brushed off the rumours in a recent interview given to a popular Malayalam media. Kamal confirmed that Tabu has not been approached for Aami.

The director also stated that he is not in a hurry to find a leading lady for the movie, and wants to take things slowly. Kamal remarked that his only aim is to depict Kamala's story on the silver screen with complete perfection.

Earlier, National award-winning Bollywood actress Vidya Balan was roped in to play Kamala Surayya aka Madhavikutty in Aami. But the actress backed out at the last minute, stating that she is unable to become the character.

The team had already postponed the shooting of the movie several times, considering Vidya Balan's health issues. The actress's sudden decision to back off from the project was a huge shock for director Kamal and his team.

However, the director assured that Aami will definitely happen, even if Vidya Balan is not a part of the project. We really hope that director Kamal and his team will soon find out a perfect face to portray Kamala Surayya onscreen.
