Number Of Screens
If the reports are to be believed, The Great Father is
releasing in about 150 theatres all over Kerala. The movie is
having an all India release on March 30. When the outside India
screens have been considered, the Mammootty starrer is releasing in
about 200 screens.
Pulimurugan, which is the most expensive film in
Mohanlal's career, was released in about 180 screens all over
Kerala. The movie was also released in all the major Indian cities
on the same day.
Pulimurugan has about 100 fan shows on the day of its
release. As per the latest reports, Mammootty The Great
Father is expected to have more than 100 fan shows on its

Pulimurugan created history by collecting about 4.06
Crores from the Kerala box office alone. The Mohanlal starrer later
broke all the pre-existing records of Mollywood and emerged as
the first 100-Crore movie of the industry.
The Big Challenge To The Great Father
The Great Father has to face a number of
challenges when it hits the theatres as the biggest solo
release in Mammootty's career. The trade analysts expect the movie
to break the initial collection record of Pulimurugan, by
fetching a solid 4.5 Crores initial collection.

Since both the movies are equally big releases, comparisons are
bound to happen. What we are yet to see is whether The Great
Father would break Pulimurugan's records and become
the first 50-Crore and 100-Crore movie in Mammootty's
Expectations are riding high on The Great Father, as
the big budget venture marks the first collaboration of young actor
Prithviraj with Mammootty, as a producer. The movie is written
and directed by newcomer Haneef Adeni.
Mammootty essays the central character David Ninan, a builder in
the movie which depicts the story of a father who seeks revenge for
his daughter. State award-winning child artist Baby Anikha appears
as David's daughter Sara in the movie.
Sneha, the popular actress essays the female lead opposite
Mammootty. Tamil actor Arya essay the role of Andrews Eapen, a
police officer in the movie. The actor also co-produces The
Great Father, along with Prithviraj, Santhosh Sivan, and Shaji
Tamil actor Shaam, Mia George, Malavika Mohanan, IM Vijayan, etc., appear in the supporting roles in the movie. Roby Varghese Raj is the director of photography. National award-winner Gopi Sundar composes the songs and background score.
