Vidya
Balan,
the
supremely
talented
Bollywood
actress
was
supposed
to
make
her
Malayalam
debut,
with
the
Kamala
Surayya
biopic
Aami.
But
as
per
the
latest
updates,
Vidya
has
backed
out
from
the
Kamal-directed
project.
Reportedly,
the
actress
has
been
receiving
threats
from
various
religious
groups,
due
to
the
controversial
nature
of
the
movie.
The
recent
controversies
regarding
Kamal,
the
director
of
the
project
is
also
a
reason
for
Vidya's
decision.
Kamal
has
been
heavily
criticised
for
his
comments
on
the
Government
decision
to
play
National
Anthem
in
the
theatres.
Reportedly,
the
director's
stand
hasn't
gone
well
with
Vidya
Balan,
who
prefers
to
stay
away
from
controversies.
Reportedly,
Aami
is
based
on
Kamala
Surayya's
biopic
Ente
Kadha
and
some
other
literary
works
based
on
her
life.
The
audiences
and
media
are
quite
sure
that
the
movie
will
evoke
controversies,
Initially,
the
team
was
planning
to
begin
the
shoot
of
Aami
in
September
2015,
but
it
was
delayed
multiple
times
due
to
Vidya's
unavailability.
Rumour
mills
had
speculated
that
the
project
has
been
shelved.
But
director
Kamal
and
Vidya's
PR
team
slammed
the
rumours
immediately.
Aami,
which
is
written
by
Kamal
himself,
also
has
some
prominent
actors
including
Prithviraj,
Murali
Gopy,
and
Anoop
Menon
in
the
star
cast.
