The 64th National Film Awards are all set to be announced soon. Malayalam movie industry is expected to excel at the National Film Awards, as the Malayalam films have made several entries into various categories.

As per the latest updates, Kerala State Award winner Vinayakan has been shortlisted for the Best Actor award. Interestingly, 10 Malayalam films have also been shortlisted for the National awards at various categories.

Rajeev Ravi's Kammatipaadam, Dileesh Pothan's Maheshinte Prathikaaram, John Paul Goerge's Guppy, Dr.Biju's Kaadu Pookkunna Neram, Pinneyum, Ottayal Patha, Minnaminungu, Kamboji, etc. are some of the major films which have been shortlisted for the 64th National Film Awards.

It has been confirmed that the 64th National Film Awards will witness a heavy competition, especilly between the Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, and Hindi film industries. Reportedly, Vinayakan has been competing with some top notch actors from industries for the Best Actor trophy.

The actor has been considered for the award, for his performance as Ganga in Rajeev Ravi's Kammatipaadam. Priyadarshan, the renowned film-maker is heading the 64th National Film Awards jury as the Chairman.

Malayalam movie industry had won several awards at the 63rd National Film Awards, including Jayasurya's Special Jury Award. If Vinayakan wins, he will be the 12th Malayalam actor to win the prestigious Best Actor trophy.
