The story of the movie revolved around two brothers, who are in love with the same girl (Seema). It came in at a time when both these actors were the emerging stars of Mollywood.
Nanayam (1983)
Here is another popular film from the 1980's which had both these actors in the lead roles. The film, directed by I V Sasi is well-known for the brilliant chemistry of its lead actors. Interestingly, the film had both the actors as step-brothers, who are so close to each other. Later, both the brothers turn foes under certain circumstances.

Poomukhapadiyil Ninneyum Kaathu (1986)
The film, directed by Bhadran, did feature Mammootty in the lead role. He appeared as Dr. Issac, the father of a teenage girl. In this movie, Mohanlal did make a special appearance, as Issac's brother-in-law, which is a character with slight negative shades.
Interestingly, Mammootty and Mohanlal have even appeared as father and son respectively in a film. Yes, we are talking about the film Padayottam, which released in the year 1982. In the movie Mammootty played a character named Kamaran whereas Mohanlal appeared as his son named Kannan.
