Will Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol Set A New Opening Day Collection Record?

Well, the first month of 2017 seems to be a good one for the Malayalam film industry. Firstly, the theatre strike came to an end in this month and more importantly, new Malayalam films have graced the theatres.

Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has hit the theatres today (January 20, 2017). The film is one of the major releases of this week along with Dulquer Salmaan starrer Jomonte Suviseshangal.

Reportedly, the movie has been released in close to 337 screens all over India. In Kerala alone, the movie has grabbed 180 screens. Now, the big question is whether the film will script a new opening day collection record or not, at the Kerala box office.

Interestingly, Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan, which now holds the opening day collection record was only released in 330 screens all over India. But, the film was also released in above 200 theatres in Kerala. Pulimurugan did gross 4.08 Crores on its opening day at the Kerala box office.

The pre-booking for the opening day, especially in multiplex centres, has been a good one for Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. The first few shows of the film did run to packed houses in many of the centres.

Now, let us wait for the official Day 1 collection of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. In all probabilities, the film might set a new record.
