Karthi (Sharbani Mukherjee) belongs to the prestigious Meleppullara Tharavadu. Her birth in the family gave an alarm to the head of the family, the karnavar Sanku Mama (Thampy Anthony). Her horoscope lighted that her birth will bring one kind of impending changes to the family. This disturbed the whole family and especially Sanku Mama. Karthi grew up to be a young , attractive and charming girl. In the meantime Maamootty (Prakash Bare), a Muslim, arrives to their place for doing business. Later Karthi and Maamootty falls in love and they elope. Karthi finds very difficult to cope with the new life and finds it very hard to do away with her worshipping. So with the permission of her husband she builds a temple and starts worshiping there. There creates great havoc in their community as well as their place. Things goes out of hand for both of them and it becomes serious.
Priyanandan, apart from Pulijanmam and Neythukaran, has one more feather on his cap. He story has a good novelty in it although seems to be a common subject. K P Ramunni's novel has given a good start for people to realize about humanity and not religion. Mohan Sitara has composed very apt music and tunes for the film that shares a feeling towards the film.
Sharbani Mukherjee has enacted the role very well. Remember she is the cousin of the Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee. She was earlier seen in Raakkilipaattu by Priyadarshan. She looks beautiful and charming in the film. Her role is very attractive and she looks awesome as both as a Hindu and a Muslim. Prakash Bare and Thampy Anthony have also donne their roles well. The rest of cast includes Babu Antony, Vineeth Kumar, Irshad, Indrans and Samvritha Sunil.
In short the movie Sufi Paranja Katha is very much relevant in the period of time. The makers have presented it in the traditional format of narration, but it easily qualifies a watchable flick that could prompt you to think about the psyche of our society. It is truly a good movie to watch.
