Paavada is a comical entertainer which stars Prithviraj in the central character. The movie is directed by Marthandan and penned by Bipin Chandra. Paavada is produced by actor-producer Maniyanpilla Raju.
Joy aka Pambu Joy (Prithviraj) is a chronic alcoholic. He is married to a nurse named Simi (Miya George). Even though Joy is a loving husband, his drinking habit badly affects their married life. Joy decides to go to a de-addiction center.
There he meets Prof. Babu Joseph (Anoop Menon) aka Paavada Babu, another chronic alcoholic. They develop a special liking for each other and soon becomes great friends. What happens in Joy and Babu's life forms the crux of the story...
Cast And Performance
Prithviraj excels as the chronic alcoholic Joy and mesmerizes with his amazing control over the comical and emotional sequences. Anoop Menon perfectly plays Paavada Babu, an aged alcoholic.
The rest of the star cast, including Miya George, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Sudheer Karamana, Asha Sarath, Chemban Vinod, etc have neatly played their respective roles.
Script And Direction
Paavada is a great step forward for the director Marthandan, who was going through a low phase in his career. He has managed to do justice to the neatly written script; but still loses the control over the second half, which is filled with dramatic situations.
Bipin Chandra has done a brilliant job as the writer of the movie. The writer has neatly executed a soulful story, with the flavour of humour. The fun-filled dialogues and one-liners deserve a special applause.
Pradeep Nair's cinematography perfectly makes a neat backdrop for the simple narrative. John Kutty's editing is just fine, as the of dramatic moments in the second half goes out of the proportion.
Songs And Background Score
The songs composed by Aby Tom Cyriac and penned by BK Harikrishnan fails to make a mark. The background score composed by Gopi Sundar is just okay.
A perfect watch for the audiences, who love comical movies with a substance.
