Munthirivallikal
Thalirkkumbol
is
the
family
entertainer,

the
lead
role.
The
movie,
which
is
an
adaptation
of
the
short
story
Pranayopanishad,
is
directed
by
Jibu
Jacob
and
scripted
by

Raj.
Munthirivallikal
Thalirkkumbol
is
produced
by
Weekend
Blockbusters.
Ulahannan
aka
Unnachan
is
a
middle-aged
man
who
works
as
a
Panchayath
Secretary.
His
family
consists
of
wife
Anniyamma,
and
kids
Jinny
and
Jerry.
Unnachan
and
Anniyamma
are
bored
in
their
19-years-old
married
life
and
finds
comfort
in
their
friend
circles
and
TV
serials,
respectively.
After
a
point,
Unnachan
even
tries
to
be
involved
in
an
extra-marital
affair
with
Julie,
but
fails
miserably.
But
soon
he
realises
that
he
has
always
had
feelings
for
only
one
woman,
and
that
is
his
wife
Anniyamma.
How
the
couple
reinvents
their
romance,
is
depicted
with
some
interesting
subplots...
Mohanlal,
who
plays
Ulahannan,
is
the
real
show
stealer.
The
actor
excels
with
his
impeccable
comic
timing
and
killer
expressions.
The
complete
actor
delivers
one
of
his
best
performances
in
recent
times,
in
the
movie.
Meena
As
Anniyamma
Meena,
who
appears
as
Anniyamma,
has
played
her
part
to
near
perfection.
She
excels
as
the
middle-class
Malayali
woman,
and
her
fantastic
onscreen
chemistry
with
Mohanlal
is
a
treat
to
watch.
Aima
Sebastian
As
Jini
Aima
Sebastian,
who
plays
Ulahannan
and
Anniyamma's
daughter
Jiny,
has
neatly
essayed
her
role.
The
actress
delivered
a
balanced
performance,
especially
in
the
second
half.
Sanoop
Santhosh
As
Jerry
Popular
child
artist
Sanoop
Santhosh
portrays
Ulahannan
and
Anniyamma's
son,
Jerry.
Even
though
he
doesn't
have
much
scope
to
perform,
Sanoop
has
made
a
mark
with
his
lovely
screen
presence.
Anoop
Menon
As
Venukuttan
Anoop
Menon,
the
actor-writer
is
at
his
humorous
best,
as
Ulahannan's
best
buddy
Venukuttan.
Anoop
has
once
again
proved
that
he
can
handle
comical
roles
perfectly,
with
his
performance
in
the
movie.
Direction:
Jibu
Jacob
Jibu
Jacob
proves
his
craft
once
again
by
making
a
beautiful
entertainer
with
the
perfect
blend
of
humour and
emotional
elements.
Despite
the
little
flaws
including
the
over-dragged
subplots
and
wasted
supporting
characters,
the
director
has
succeeded
in
delivering
a
perfect
movie
experience.
Screenplay
&
Dialogues:
M
Sindhuraj
M
Sindhuraj,
the
scenarist
has
succeeded
in
making
a
perfect
adaptation
for
VJ
James's
short
story,
by
including
the
right
amount
of
situational
humour
and
emotional
elements.
However,
he
could
have
avoided
the
overly-dragged
subplots
and
unnecessary
characters.
Cinematography:
Pramod
K
Pillai
Pramod
K
Pillai,
the
cinematographer
has
done
a
fabulous
job
with
his
beautiful
visuals.
The
song
sequences,
especially
Punnamadakkayal
are
total
visual
treats.
Music:
Bijibal
&
M
Jayachandran
Bijibal
once
again
makes
a
mark
with
his
extraordinary
background
score,
which
creates
a
perfect
mood
to
the
plot.
But,
songs
composed
by
Bijibal
and
M
Jayachandran
are
just
okay
and
easily
forgettable.
The
Supporting
Cast
Suraj
Venjarammodu,
who
plays
the
Panchayath
President
scores
with
his
exceptional
comic
timing,
even
with
his
repetitive
role.
Asha
Sharath
makes
an
impressive
cameo
appearance
as
Ulahannan's
ex-lover
Indhulekha.
Bindu
Panicker
scores
with
her
natural
performance
as
Girija.
The
rest
of
the
star
cast,
including
Alencier
Ley,
Kalabhavan
Shahjohn,
Srinda,
Neha
Saxena,
Suresh
Krishna,
Sudheer
Karamana,
Sharafudheen,
Rahul
Madhav,
Ganapathi,
etc.
are
fine
in
their
respective
roles.
Other
Technical
Aspects
Sooraj
ES's
editing
could
have
been
more
effective,
as
the
movie
lags
at
a
few
points.
The
graphics
used
in
the
flashback
sequences
is
not
up
to
the
standards.
Verdict
Mohanlal
is
back
with
a
complete
treat
for
the
audiences
of
all
age
groups,
after
the
50
days
long
theatre
strike.
