Meet the cast & crew members of Oru Cinemakkaran..

Vineeth Sreenivasan as Alby

Vineeth Sreenivasan as Alby

Vineeth Sreenivasan plays the role of an aspiring film-maker, named Alby. It is a role tailor made for him and we definitely can see the actor in him growing with each movie. He scores highly in the light humour portions and has given a matured performance in the emotional sequences, as well.

Rajisha Vijayan As Sera

Rajisha Vijayan As Sera

Rajisha Vijayan, plays Sara, the wife of Alby Mathew. Words would be less to describe this talented actress's performance. She is such a charm and the way she has approached this particular role of a loving and caring wife, is commendable. Spontaneity is quite visible in her performance and she is a real talent.

Anusree As Nayana

Anusree As Nayana

It is a role with a difference for Anusree. She appease as Nayana, the neighbour of Alby and Sara. It is after a gap, she is seen doing the role of an urban girl and she has done a decent job with her portrayal of Nayana.

Vijay Babu As Sudheer

Vijay Babu As Sudheer

Vijay Babu appears as Sudheer, husband of Nayana. He has comparatively lesser screen space and felt like the role could have been developed in a better fashion, but at the same it his character that drives the movie forward. having said that, he has given his cent percent for the role.

Rest Of The Cast

Rest Of The Cast

The film has a strong list of supporting actors. Renji Panicker and Lal impress in the roles of the father characters of Alby and Sara, respectively. Lal, especially scores well with his comic timing, but his role was a bit underdeveloped.

Hareesh Perumanna takes care of the humour department efficiently. And there is the hugely talented Prasanth Narayanan, who simply steals the show in the second half. Wait a minute, there is a surprise package in the film, in the form of a cameo by an actor.

Script & Direction - Leo Thaddeus

Script & Direction - Leo Thaddeus

Oru Cinemakkaran is Leo Thaddeus's third outing as a film-maker. The director in him has done a good job in presenting exactly what the script demanded. He has been able to keep the film engaging, especially in some of the sequences in the first half, which would have faltered, if they weren't dealt with care. The director in him has opted for different approaches for both the halves.

The script has some surprise packages and the writer has smarty induced comedy elements in the first half and thrilling elements in the second half. The difficulties and the struggles of aspiring film-makers have been etched to perfection in the film.

On the flip side, there are some logical issues in the script, here and there. The presence of underdeveloped characters in the film also prevents these departments from achieving full marks.

Other Technical Aspects

Oru Cinemaakkaran has its camera department handled by Sudheer Surendran. He has done a neat hob and the frames were exactly, what the film wanted. The editing of the film has been done by veteran Ranjan Abraham and kudos to him for keeping the runtime under check, especially in the second half, which has made the film. Music of the film is by Bijibal and the song Ozhukayaayi is the pick from the lot.

Overall View

First thing first, Oru Cinemakkaran is not just about the film world and the struggles faced by aspiring film-makers. So, don't expect an Udayananu Tharam or inspirational movies that came under that particular genre.

Yes, the hardships of film-makers are a part of narration but more than that, Oru Cinemakkaran deals with some of the issues that its central character Alby has to go through, under certain circumstances.

The first half is filled with loads of entertaining moments and in the second half we are introduced to an altogether different genre. Some audiences might find it hard to digest the sharp turn that the film takes, but the film-maker has been able to present it in a decent manner.

Yes, the film isn't without minuses but the crisp narration helps the film to overcome those flaws, most of the times.

Verdict

Oru Cinemakkaran is a decent attempt to entertain the audiences. It will give you some genuine laughs, make you feel for its protagonist and offer some thrilling moments, all at the same time.
