Mammootty
as
Nithyananda
Shenoy
Mammootty
who
plays
Nithyananda
Shenoy,
steals
the show
with
his
extraordinary
performance
and
excellent
command
over
the
Kasargode
dialect.
The
actor
amazes
with
his
exceptional
screen
presence
in
the
first
half,
but
has
nothing
much
to
do
in
the
second
half.
Script
&
Direction:
Ranjith
Ranjith,
the
writer-director
has
managed
to
begin
the
film
on
a
promising
note.
The
movie
has
maintained
a
good
pace
throughout
the
first
half,
with
some
light
comical
moments
and
an
engaging
narration.
But
things
take
a
different
turn
in
the
strictly
average
second
half,
in
which
story
travels
towards
a
totally
different
direction.
The
climax
portion
also
ends
up
as
an
average
affair.
It
is
disappointing
that
Ranjith
couldn't
make
use
of
his
lead
actor
Mammootty
and
the
promising
storyline
to
the
fullest,
as
the
writer-director
deviates
to
needless
subplots
in
the
second
half.
Master
Swaraj
Gramika
as
Muthuvel
Newcomer
Master
Swaraj
Gramika,
who
appears
as
Muthuvel,
has
played
his
part
to
near
perfection.
He
makes
a
great,
confident
debut,
and
is
undoubtedly
here
to
stay.
Cinematography:
Om
Prakash
Om
Prakash,
the
popular
South
Indian
cinematographer
also
makes
a
decent
Malayalam
debut
with
Puthan
Panam.
The
visualisation
of
Kochi
city
is
a
treat
to
watch.
A
special
mention
to
the
not-so-familiar
colour
tones
used
the
in
the
movie.
The
Supporting
Cast
The
rest
of
the
star
cast,
including
Siddique,
Mammukoya,
Saikumar,
Indrans,
Renji
Panicker,
P
Balachandran,
Sureshkrishna,
Baiju,
Abu
Salim,
Ganapathi,
Sohan
Seenulalm
Biju
Pappan,
Ineya,
Sheelu
Abraham,
Niranjana
Anoop,
etc.,
have
done
complete
justice
to
their
respective
roles.
Kottayam
Nazeer
and
Aanandam
fame
Vishak
Nair,
who
makes
cameo
appearances,
are
also
good
in
their
respective
roles.
Songs:
Shaan
Rahman
Shaan
Rahman,
the
young
musician
impresses
with
the
title
song
of
the
film.
But
the
second
song,
which
comes
in
the
second
half
of
the
movie,
fails
to
make
a
mark.
Background
Score:
Achu
Rajamani
Achu
Rajamani's
background
score
creates
a
perfect
mood
for
the
movie,
which
has
both
the
class
and
mass
elements
in
store.
Achu,
who
is
the
son
of
late
musician
Rajamani,
surely
has
a
great
future
in
the
field.
