Script & Direction – Jis Joy

Jis Joy, who had earlier helmed the movie Bicycle Thieves, has handled an entirely different plot with Sunday Holiday. The effort that he has put in to come with a multi-layered narration is quite evident as he has packed the script in a way, which is less confusing. The film has a thin storyline, but the screenplay packs a punch, many times.

The director in him has ably packaged the entire product adding the necessary entertainment quotient. There are certain instances in the second half where one gets the feel that he is losing the grip, but he comes back strongly with some engaging elements. Jis Joy has come out successful in giving the film, a feel-good label.

Other Technical Aspects

The cinematography of Sunday Holiday has been handled by Alex J Pulickal and he has done a neat job. A special mention for the lighting techniques adapted. Editing by Ratheesh Raj is neat and crisp. It was refreshing to hear the songs set to tune by Deepak Dev.

Overall View

First things first, Sunday Holiday is a simple feel-good movie and is not in the lines of the team's previous venture Bicycle Thieves, which had a twists galore. But still, Sunday Holiday has some minor twists, which serve its purpose up to an extent.

Sunday Holiday is dedicated to all those who dream and aspire about movies. It puts forward an important message that age is not a barrier to dream about films and Sreenivasan's character shows that perfectly. Also the movie points out some important points on how a good film or story is born.

The film has some real good moments throughout, especially in the first half of the movie, which are sure to bring in smile to your face. Yes, there are some cliched moments, here and there, but that doesn't take away the cuteness of the movie. After the climax, one would get a satisfied feel, having watched a good film.

Verdict

Sunday Holiday, is a good treat by Jis Joy and team. Besides being a feel-good movie, it has some elements of inspiration as well. Rightly, a good watch for your next holiday.
