Review: Politically Incorrect – 'Shasan'

By Marathidhamaal

Movies based on Politics are always a treat to watch, as they always come in all stripes. A hybrid of political drama 'Shasan' is directed by critically acclaimed and winner of numerous awards, 'Gajendra Ahire'.

Besides the mindless killings and vicious games people play to attain power and hold on it, the film drift on quite a few occasions, and a tighter edit would have made the difference. The film is a story of raw ambition of personal turmoil, of getting to the roots of cause and paying the price for it, characters stuck in a dilemma of what is right and what is wrong and the ever suffering common man. The film draws your attention to the darker sides of politics and drags you into the political race that we are surrounded with but don't want to see.

Review: Politically Incorrect – 'Shasan'

For a film that stars a troupe of well-versed star cast including Makrand Anaspure, Bharat Jadhav, Jitendra Joshi, Manawa Naik, Siddharth Jadhav, Vikram Gokhale and Mohan Joshi among others, is missing some much-needed edge-of-the-seat excitement. Everything just follows a set pattern that is easily eliminated in the making of the film.

The movie however If you have an appetite for asinine dramas, then Shasan may just be your thing. However, I have my doubts that anyone with a fully functional brain can actually describe this travesty of a film as intelligent, serious film making. From a filmmaker like Gajendra Ahire, we expect more from you next time.
