Sa Re Ga Ma pays I Cr royalties

Gone are the days when singers had to long for royalty. Saregama HMV has come up with new arena where they will assign an amount of Rs 1 crore every month as royalty to artistes who have worked for it.

The company owns the largest music archives in India including the works of 23,000 artistes. According to Subroto Chattopadhyay, head of entertainment wing of RPG, The Company is digitalizing around 6,000 contracts and also plans to market the works of its old artistes in a novel way and pay royalties.

He further explained that the company is still in the process of tracking down some of the artistes also concentrating to increase the royalties of those who are not getting much, by using their work in a bigger scale.
