Rank Last week Film Plusses Minuses
2 Don - The Chase Begins Again Even in last week, there was a belief that 'Don' had a lot of fire in it with the film taking a very good start at the box office. This has resulted in increased sales volume too that has brought back 'Don' to the #1 position it had held all this while except for a solitary week. The theme music has become a rage all over! 'Khaike Paan' is good to watch but is placed in the film at a point when audience was just interested in some action and thrills!
1 Dhoom 2 Success of 'Don' led to audience making beelines for its music, hence relegating new entrant 'Dhoom 2' to #2 spot. Nevertheless, 'Dhoom 2' should reach the top again since the teaser promo featuring the theme of each of the 5 songs in the film is enticing enough for a listener. Throwaway prices for the album's MP3 would further help the sales. When KANK and Don had reached #1 spot at their very arrival on the stands, they hadn't left this spot even once before the film's release. Comparatively it took just a week's time for 'Dhoom 2' to move a step down.
4 Woh Lamhe 'Woh Lamhe' swaps a place with 'Jaan-e-Mann' and reaches back into Top 3 once again. Each of the songs in the album belongs to a different genre and still helps the album maintain a consistent feel hence making 'Woh Lamhe' yet another superhit success for Pritam. None
3 Jaan-e-mann 'Jaan-e-Mann' continues to register consistent sales and if only the film would have been a big success, the music would have been a rage since it is beautifully arranged and presented. There was little time between the kick start of album's promotion, release of the album and then the film, In the hindsight once feels that if only more time would have been devoted for each of the three milestones, the album would have caught on in a big way.
5 Umrao Jaan There were hardly a few souls who were not thrilled by the idea of ripping the album apart when it released. To the dismay of many, they couldn't gather the courage to bash the album since Anu Malik's score spoke for itself. This is one of his best works ever! The album has somehow got stuck in the middle of the charts and one sincerely hopes that the film becomes a success that would certainly give 'Umrao Jaan' the kind of success it truly deserves.
6 Bas Ek Pal Bottom 5 of the charts remains untouched with each of the albums sustaining in the market it caters to. 'Bas Ek Pal' has been liked immensely by those who have either been in love or are in love. 'Tere Bin' is a testimony of the same! None
7 KANK Before arrival of 'Dhoom 2', KANK was an album that was priced below Rs. 100/=, a first for a big budget film. No wonder the strategy worked in a big way and the album has been registering good sales even after the film has come and gone. Good quality music has only facilitated the impressive figures. Audience may now be looking for a change from Karan Johar and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in their next outing
8 ASMM 'Guitar' is a hit and is making every heartbeat rhyme along with its strings! The songs have caught on quite well with the masses and if the film is a success at the box office, it has a potential to follow the same sales graph as 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' which consolidated as weeks progressed. Not for those who are looking for a soulful/melodious/romantic score here
9 Lage Raho Munnabhai Talking of 'Munnabhai', it enjoys its place in the charts for yet another week, in spite of the fact that there is no album promotion at all on any media channel. 'Babul' arrives this week while 'Bhagam Bhaag' is the next in line, both of which would certainly create some ripples in the charts.
10 Fanaa 'Fanaa' continues to find its audience and everyone is going ahead to possess a copy of the album. Just like 'Rang De Basanti', 'Fanaa' too boasts of consistent sales months after the music hit the stands. It's disheartening to actually believe that Jatin Lalit have split for sure. With a score like 'Fanaa' behind them, one would have expected them to stay on longer!
