Mumbai
(UNI):
After
Sanjay
Dutt,
it
is
Urmila
Matondkar
who
has
joined
the
privileged
group
of
Asha
Bhosale's
'friends'.
The
actor
recently
recorded
a
song
with
Asha
for
her
album
'Asha
and
Friends'.
The
idea
was
conceptualised
by
Asha
and
music
composer
Shamir
Tandon
to
get
non-professional
singers
who
are
well-known
in
their
respective
fields
and
had
a
flair
for
music.
Urmila's
talent
was
spotted
by
the
legendary
singer
during
a
show
in
the
neighbouring
Thane
where
the
former
was
a
guest.
''When
Urmila
took
the
stage
to
wish
the
audience,
she
sang
two
lines
of
'Bichoo
o
Bichoo'
reminding
me
that
it
was
the
first
song
that
I
had
sung
for
her.
Then
I
realised
that
she
had
a
great
voice.
Next
morning
I
called
her
up
and
asked
her
to
sing
with
me
for
my
album,''
says
Asha.
Initially,
the
actor
did
not
give
much
thought
to
the
proposal
but
lately
realised
the
seriousness
behind
it.
''I,
too,
was
stunned.
I
couldnt
stop
laughing
thinking
it
was
a
joke.
But
when
Shamir
called
me
I
realised
that
it
wasn't
for
fun,''
says
Urmila.
''Urmila
was
shy
while
singing.
She
shut
all
the
studio
lights
and
sang
alone
with
just
the
sound
engineer
and
music
composer
inside.
She
was
very
embarrassed
that
she
was
singing,''
recounts
Tandon.
Appllauding
the
actor
for
her
effort,
Asha
says
Urmila's
voice
reminds
her
of
someone
as
good
as
Shamshad
Begum
and
her
voice's
texture
and
expression
is
so
good
that
in
future
she
can
even
launch
her
own
album.
''I
would
really
thank
god
for
giving
me
a
chance
to
sing
with
Ashatai.
I
am
really
happy
and
thankful
to
Ashatai
for
making
me
discover
my
talent
and
Shamir
Tandon
for
making
me
sound
so
good
with
a
tailormade
song,''
says
Urmila.
The
song
'Mehbooba
Dilruba'
by
the
music
company
Mauj
in
the
album
starts
with
a
conversation
between
the
duo
which
Shamir
quietly
recorded.
Arun
Gupta,
the
CEO
of
Mauj
says,
''It's
is
a
brilliant
song
which
is
bound
to
get
top
billing
in
discotheques
and
pubs
for
sure.
Ashaji
is
a
legend
and
she
along
with
the
music
director
has
made
sure
this
song
will
be
a
benchmark
in
the
entertainment
and
digital
lifestyle.''
Asha
Bhosle
and
Urmila
Matondkar
want
to
join
hands
and
shoot
a
video
for
the
song
which
will
be
directed
by
journalist
S
Ramakrishanan.
