Jagjit
Singh
passed
away
at
8
am
in
Lilavati
Hospital,
Mumbai
on
Monday
morning.
The
singer
was
admitted
to
the
Lilavati
Hospital
on
September
23
after
he
suffered
brain
haemorrhage.
Though
a
life-saving
surgery
was
performed
on
him,
he
could
not
be
rescued.
Jagjit
Singh
was
70
and
is
survived
by
his
wife
Chitra
Singh.
Jagjit
Singh,
who
has
been
extremely
critical
since
the
past
few
weeks
was
on
ventilator
support.
Lovingly
known
as
"The
Ghazal
King" Jagjit
Singh
rose
to
fame
in
the
1970s
and
1980s,
along
with
his
singer
wife
Chitra
Singh.
He
was
the
one
who
brought
ghazals
into
Bollywood
mainstream
songs.
