AR Rahman opens up on 'Hosanna' controversy

Oscar award winner AR Rahman has finally opened up on the controversy surrounding his new song 'Hosanna' from the movie Ek Dewaana Tha three days after the Christian Social Forum (CSF) raised objection over using the word Hosanna. But he has not expressed apology as the institution demanded it.

Earlier this week, the CSF had filed a complaint with the concerned department against makers of the song 'Hosanna'. In the complaint, the institution stated that 'Hosanna' is a prayer in holy bible and the use of the word had hurt the sentiments of Jews and Christians. So it demanded apology from musician, Fox India and the producers.

Today, AR Rahman has released a press statement regarding the 'Hosanna' controversy. "I had researched it and had consulted friends who are Christian about the use of the word. The song was a sensation when it was released in the South a couple of years ago. I am concerned about the sentiments of all those who appear to be hurt," the Mid Day quotes his statement.
