50 Cent is going to court to fight his ex-lover over her "greedy" child support demands. The rapper - who split up with his son Marquise's mother Shaniqua Tompkins five years ago - has always paid child support but the arrangements were never made official by the courts. 50 is determined to formalise the arrangement because he claims Shaniqua has become more demanding. A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "It was just getting so out of hand. It was driven by greed. He felt it was necessary to get a court order making clear just what his responsibility is. He took matters into his own hands. It's usually the woman who files. But he wants to do the right thing. 50 has always provided for his kid. His son's mother is now making unreasonable demands, which seem to have no limits. He sees his son very frequently. When he's on the road, he brings him out."

The hip-hop star - who will file the court papers under his real name Curtis Jackson - lived with his teenage sweetheart Shaniqua for four years. The 30-year-old rap star has on several occasions credited becoming a father for changing his lifestyle. 50 had a turbulent upbringing. His mother, Sabrina Jackson, was a cocaine-dealer and was murdered when he was just eight years old. The 'In Da Club' singer, who never knew his father, had a crime-filled youth and spent time in prison before finding fame in the music industry.
