Washington (ANI): British singer Leona Lewis has walked away with the title of America's Top New Artist of 2008, following the success of her hit single 'Bleeding Love'. The 23-year-old 'X factor' winner was named the 'Top New Artist of 2008' by Billboard magazine.
"I'm just going day by day and just enjoying everything. I got a fantastic opportunity to come here and do this and so far it's been going really well," Contactmusic quoted her as saying. American Idol star Jordin Sparks, took second spot on the list, followed by hip-hop's Flo Rida, singer Katy Perry and rockers OneRepublic.
Lewis' new single 'Bleeding Love' has also topped iTunes sales for 2008. While the Coldplay's 'Viva la Vida' became the 'best-selling album' of 2008, the Brit pop-R&B singer's latest release went on to grab the top-selling single title. Lewis' label, J records also confirmed that the artist's recent single had sold 3.2 million digitally.
