London (ANI): The Spice Girls may give a rest to their differences for a while and perform at a special concert to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday, it has been revealed. The all-girl band announced last week that they will be cutting short their reunion tour, amid constant rumours of internal strife. However, this hasn't stopped organisers of what is being billed as the 'Concert of the Decade" from trying to woo the group back on stage.
And sources say that Mandela is desperately hoping that the girls will agree, especially as they declined his request to play at his 89th birthday last year due to work commitments and because Emma Bunton was heavily pregnant.
"Nelson is desperate for them to perform one last time and he's confident it will happen. He first met the Spices in 1997 and called them his 'heroes', so he has deep admiration for them," the Mirror quoted a source, as saying. Other names reported to perform at the June concert in London's Hyde Park include Robbie Williams, Bono, Rihanna and Jay-Z.
