London
(ANI):
A
tribute
to
pop
paedophile
Gary
Glitter
on
a
Wall
of
Fame
at
the
Cavern
Club
in
Liverpool
is
said
to
be
fuelling
outrage.
The
club
had
classic
bands
like
The
Beatles,
The
Who,
and
the
Rolling
Stones
playing
in
it
between
1957
and
1973,
and
Glitter
had
also
been
among
them.
The
brick
carrying
the
English
rock
singer's
name
is
on
the
outside
of
the
famous
club,
and
an
MP
has
called
it
'an
outrage'
that
it
is
still
being
displayed.
"The
brick
should
be
removed
from
the
wall
and
destroyed,
it
is
causing
an
outrage," the
Daily
Star
quoted
Bob
Wareing,
78,
a
Liverpool
Labour
MP,
as
saying.
"Glitter
should
not
be
honoured
his
name
no
longer
reminds
people
about
music,
only
the
terrible
crimes
he
committed.
Removing
the
brick
would
be
the
right
and
decent
thing
to
do,"
he
added.
But
the
Cavern's
spokesman
Bill
Heckle
said
the
decision
not
to
remove
it
was
made
with
considerable
thought.
"We
made
a
conscious
decision
to
leave
the
Gary
Glitter
brick
where
it
is,"
he
said.
"We
see
the
wall
as
more
like
an
historical
document
than
a
tourist
attraction,"
he
added.
