Ron Asheton meets mysterious death

London (ANI): American guitarist Ron Asheton has been found dead at his Michigan home. He was 60. Detective Bill Stanford revealed that cops discovered the late member of the rock band 'The Stooges' after his personal assistant contacted them on Monday night, failing to reach the star for days.

He said that officers found Asheton's body on a couch in the living room of his house in Ann Arbor at around midnight on Tuesday. The cause of his death has yet to be determined, but the police have ruled out foul play. Autopsy and toxicology reports are expected soon, reports the Daily Express.

Asheton formed the band The Stooges along with his drummer brother Scott, bassist Dave Alexander, and frontman Iggy Pop in 1967. He left the group in the 1970s after the flop of their third album Raw Power.

Thereafter, he formed other bands, including supergroup The Wylde Rattz - comprising of Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Mudhoney's Mark Arm. The Stooges reunited in 2003 and released an album titled The Weirdness in 2007, their first in 34 years.
