Washington (ANI): Band Coldplay has reportedly reached a legal settlement with guitarist Joe Satriani over a plagiarism lawsuit. The band were served with a lawsuit by Satriani, who alleged the rockers lifted his 2004 instrumental, "I Just Wanna Fly," for the basic melody of "Viva La Vida".
Both the parties were said to have settled the matter, and copyright infringement lawsuit has been dismissed, reports Contactmusic. According to Billboard.com, a confession of any wrongdoing will not be required from the group, who have always denied the claims.
A statement from the Brits said: "If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him." Both sides declined to comment about the settlement.
