According to reports, the ceremony honoured individuals and organisations that have made considerable contributions to make the planet more sustainable for future generations. What is interesting is the fact that this year's even was named 'Heal the World', after Jackson's song of the same name.
Jackson's brother Jermaine received a posthumous prize on behalf of the late superstar, reports Contactmusic. Jermaine also took to the stage to perform Smile, the same tune he sang at his sibling's Los Angeles memorial on July 7. Former U.S. athlete Carl Lewis was also present at the event. The evening was hosted by actress Andie MACDowell.
